Surveillance for Nursing Homes-No Place is Safe From Crime!

I read an article tonight that just blew my mind. I am inclosing the highlights and the link if you would like to read more on it as well. The article discusses how a criminal got into a nursing home, ran into an elderly woman’s room and stabbed her in her chest while she lay helpless in bed. My first thought was how heinous this crime was. My second thought was that if anyone out there thinks they are safe and above being attacked then think again. If they will attack the helpless elderly in nursing homes, then they will attack anyone. Criminals have no conscious-they couldn’t possibly to do the acts they do.

Here is the article and link:More security for nursing home after stabbing Lucy Rickard

Police patrolled the grounds of the Birralee Nursing Homes last night with the facility’s security, to ensure residents felt safe following a random attack on an elderly resident earlier this week.

The victim, who was yet to be identified, was asleep in her room at the Innaloo facility when a man burst through the door and stabbed her once in the chest.

She was treated by staff and then taken to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, where she was found to have suffered a collapsed lung and internal bleeding

Dr Flett confirmed the gates to the centre were not locked on the night of the attack and also there were no security cameras installed.

She said the facility had a number of routine security checks throughout the night to ensure doors were locked and it was not yet clear how the man gained access to the woman’s room or to the inner hallway of the building.
